Sumela Tour
Sumela Monastery, which is 47 km away from Trabzon, is built on a steep cliff and is also known as “Virgin Mary” among the people. It is about 300 meters above the valley. It is said that the name Sumela comes from the meaning of black in it. It is thought that this name comes from the Karadaglar, where the monastery was founded and also includes the black name, on the one hand, and the black color of the depiction of Mary here.
